Mushroom farming as a hobby or business can be very rewarding.
Deciding to go into mushroom farming has been one of the best decisions we’ve made. If you have a love for mushrooms and want to do something rewarding, then mushroom farming is an excellent way to go.
Not only can you make some extra money by selling your produce but you can have the enjoyment of perusing a lifelong hobby.
Mushroom farming can be done just as a hobby or you can create a rewarding side business.
A small-scale mushroom farm will produce around (12 – 40lbs/week) and is an excellent way to grow a highly sort after food product at your local markets.
You can start mushroom farming in a reasonably small space and with very little up front costs providing you don’t make the mistake of buying expensive equipment at the beginning. You can usually find many items fairly cheaply or be able to make items yourself at home.
I think the best thing about mushroom farming is nurturing and watching something grow. You’ll also be able to supply fresh local produce to people in your community more affordable and specialty items more readily available.
